Working with Mr Altoft.
Rousseau's Jungle Fever
One of the hi- lights this year was working in secondary with Mr Alltoft. In Topic we studied tropical rainforests and to broaden our creative horizons we spent some time learning about the famous French painter, Henri Rousseau (1844-1910). Although he had never been to a jungle he painted many jungle scenes. He definitely had jungle fever, as we did!. His non- realistic animals and vivid colours inspired us.

Under Mr Alltoft's direction we learned how to create foliage prints for our jungle using silk screen printing techniques. We invented 'new' rainforest animals from clay. We moulded, sculpted animals that could live in the diverse habitats of a tropical rainforest. We classified our imaginary animals, described their movements, itemised their diets and identified imaginary food chains.
